How To Factory Reset Your Android Phone

The Best thing you can do is a Factory Reset if your android phone lags down at every point.

In case you’ve forgotten your phone’s password and unable to unlock it or you want to clean up the internal memory of your phone or if your phone gets hanged when you open several apps, factory reset or formatting your Android Phone could be the solution.

When you do the Factory Data Reset, all the junk files get erased, and the phone’s speed gets faster, it’s like you get a brand new android phone.

Developers trust that resetting your Android phone once to the factory settings is the most excellent move to keep your phone firm and fast. Junk files such as system app data, unnecessary cache, empty files and folders, temporary data get deleted after the Factory Data Reset.

Before starting the reset process, ensure that you have a backup of all your app data.

There are two methods to reset your Android phone: Soft/Basic Reset and Hard Reset. Let us start with the first one, i.e. Basic reset.

How To Factory Reset Your Android Phone

METHOD 1: Soft/Basic Factory Reset.

Well, this is the first method which is practically easier than the hard reset. All you need to do is follow the steps given below.

The first method is a simple and easy one. Follow these steps to reset your phone.

STEP 1: Open the Android Settings

Open your phone’s App Drawer. Select your mobile settings.

STEP 2: Select the Backup & Reset option.

Under the settings, locate the personal settings tab. It would be easy for you to find Backup and Reset option under the personal settings tab. Just select and open it.

In most of the Android devices, the backup and reset option is present in the storage or privacy settings. Android settings vary from device to device.

STEP 3: Select Factory Data Reset option.

In the Backup and Reset option, you will find “Factory Data Reset”. Select that option.

Now you are just one move away from resetting your android phone. After going through the above step, you’ll reach out to a new screen where you will get to know, what data will get erased after the reset. These files will primarily include your personal information such as contacts, messages, Social Accounts such as Facebook and Twitter, Google Accounts, Downloaded apps, System app’s data, Images, Music, Videos and any other files in the internal storage of your Android phone.

If you need any of these files, please backup them safely in your computer or SD Card.

Step 4: Click on the “Reset Phone” button.

Under the list of the accounts to be cleared, you will get the “Reset Phone” button at the bottom. Click on the button to start.

The entire data in your internal storage will be deleted.

If you desire to clear the data on your External SD Card, Please Choose “Erase SD Card” Option at the end of the screen.

STEP 5: Enter your Mobile Password.

Instantly it will request you to type your password.

Now, if you have set any password or pattern to unlock your Android device, enter it.

The process wouldn’t start without entering the right password or pattern.

STEP 6: Click on “Erase Everything” button.

Now, this will be the final step for resetting the phone and remember once it is, it can’t be undone!

When you click on the “Erase Everything” button, the reset process will start. Don’t switch off your mobile phone or remove the battery throughout the reset process.

 

METHOD 2: Hard Reset (Factory Data Reset in Recovery Mode)

You can practice this method when your phone is locked down due to too many incorrect password attempts. It is an alternative method of Factory Resetting your Android device.

In case if you have forgotten your Pattern or Password, then the solitary way to unlock your Android device is to clear data/factory reset in Recovery mode. That is why this method is also known as Hard Reset.

STEP 1: Power off your Android device.

To initiate the process of Hard Reset, first, turn off your Android mobile.

If your Phone is frozen or gets hang and the power button is not operating, you can immediately pull the battery out to power it off.

STEP 2: Now, go to the Recovery mode by pressing down the recovery buttons.

It is a complicated step because the recovery buttons differ from device to device. So it might be possible that you may have a distinct recovery buttons combination for your handset.

Generally, in android phones, the recovery buttons are Power and Volume up and Volume down.

You must press and hold those buttons together for a few seconds, to get into the recovery mode.

If you have any trouble finding your recovery buttons, kindly search it on Google as “Mobile-name recovery mode”.

STEP 3: Select wipe data/factory reset

Once you reach into your Phone’s recovery mode, use volume buttons to move the highlight up and down.

Get onto the wipe data/factory reset handling Volume down key. Now press the Enter/Power key to approve the factory reset.

Shift the highlight to the “Yes” and Select it to start the factory reset process. It will take several seconds to perform the factory data reset. Make sure that you don’t turn your mobile off during the reset process.

STEP 4: Select “Reboot system now” to end the reset.

When the reset is done successfully, your Android phone will show the recovery mode again.

To end the reset process, kindly Select “reboot system now” in your recovery mode. When the reboot is completed, you will get your phone similar as you had purchased it.

 

Endpoint

Before beginning the reset procedure, please take the backup of all your data such as contacts, photos, messages and other files. As there’s no chance to recover that data after the reset.
